The Cure is a British gothic rock band formed in 1976 in Crawley, England. The Cure has had multiple lineups. The most stable was the one from 1985 to 1988, comprising guitarist Robert Smith, bassist Simon Gallup, drummer Boris Williams, keyboardist Laurence Tolhurst, and guitarist Porl Thompson. In 1989, the band released what is considered its crowning achievement, Disintegration, the album that earned the band its highest position on the British charts with the single “Lullaby,” which peaked at number five for six consecutive weeks.
