Electric Chairs - The Electric Chairs - LP

Jayne County, a future transgender pioneer, began her career as Wayne County; she starred in "Femme Fatale" alongside Patti Smith and fronted the band Backstreet Boys at venues like CBGB and Max's Kansas City, where she also worked as one of the punk scene's first DJs. After moving to London in 1977, County formed the controversial proto-punk band The Electric Chairs. Their self-titled debut album—a timeless work released by Safari Records in 1978—features standout moments, ranging from the teddy boy/punk fusion of "Eddie And Sheena" to the unbridled energy of tracks like "Out Of Control" and "On The Crest." It's a raw, excessive, and sordid glimpse into late-1970s proto-punk history.
