This collection of demos and previously released Bomp tracks is not the lost great Weirdos LP, but it gives an idea of what it might have sounded like. Destroy All Music includes the Weirdos' striking three-song debut single from 1977, the more polished but equally impressive 1979 EP Who? What? When? Where? Why?, and early four-song demos (three of which also appeared on the first single, but "Life of Crime," "Why Do You Exist," and "Destroy All Music" are good enough that you won't mind hearing them twice). The demos and the "Destroy All Music" single are equally raw, but although the recording quality is somewhat lacking, the band shines with intensity and the songs are brilliant. The six tracks on Who? What? When? Where? Why? were produced by Earle Mankey, who brought a more organized approach to the sessions, and the results lack a bit of the frenetic intensity of the other tracks. However, Dix Denney and Cliff Roman's guitars are still deep, John Denney's vocals are feverish and fascinating, and "Hit Man" and "Fort U.S.A." are among the Weirdos' best songs. This collection would have been even better if the band's Dangerhouse single ("We Got the Neutron Bomb"/"Solitary Confinement") had been included, but even without those tracks, this is a brilliant look at the Weirdos' formative years and represents early Los Angeles punk at its finest.

We have struggled to obtain some copies because we believe that there are bands that started punk rock and should not be forgotten and are absolutely essential to knowing the beginnings.

Colored Vinyl

Tracklist:

Demo

A1 Teenage

A2 Destroy All Music

A3 A Life Of Crime

A4 Why Do You Exist?

Destroy All Music EP

A5 Destroy All Music

A6 A Life Of Crime

A7 Why Do You Exist?

Who?
