He and I are pretty much the same people who wrote ‘A propósito de Garfunkel’ (Bcore, 2008) and ‘La Dimensión Desconocida’ (Bcore, 2009) years ago—perhaps a bit grayer, freer, more relaxed, embracing the wisdom that has come from spending so many years on the troubadour path, together and apart. All the songs we have written illuminate our beautiful friendship and our mutual affection and respect. Those that make up ‘Ocurrimos Lejos’ (Cielos Estrellados, 2025) are the result of all the affection we have shown one another over the last two decades. The compilation includes a second disc with songs that were left out of the albums, along with some unreleased tracks that never saw the light of day back then because I didn’t know how to find their place. \u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThe disc is an extension of the book of the same title: a 224-page volume published by Lunwerg containing all the lyrics I have written during this time. All of them (a total of 84 songs) have been illustrated and reinterpreted by the grace of Paula Bonet.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eExtra album content:\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e– “Naturaleza” is the only song I have composed for the occasion and I am especially proud of it.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e– “Retrofuturo” is a song from the Lluvia y truenos harvest, the joint album with McEnroe, which we never got around to recording because it didn’t fit with the rest of the repertoire. \u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e– “Demasiado en cuenta” is a leftover from the Oh, rompehielos sessions.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e– “Bienvenido al ocaso” was an instrumental track that I recorded with Paco Loco for the joint album with Maria Rodés and Martí Sales. It got lost on a computer and I was able to finish it this year.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e– “Por tradición” is the song from my repertoire that Zahara likes the most. I wanted to return the compliment by inviting her to sing it with me.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e– “Tan valent” is a version of La Brigada, Pere Agramunt’s band. That hurt quite a bit (they were almost my favorites), but when it comes to records, you have to make difficult decisions for the greater good. I still think we achieved the album’s balance by removing those dark, dense, beautiful songs from the tracklist, but I was eager to release the material on a single or EP.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eMonths later, celebrating over vermouth the warm reception of “Oh, Icebreaker” and its reissues, Jordi Llansamà (Bcore Disc) and I decided to rescue the lost songs on a new EP.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eShortly after I started working with Lluís Cots (a top-notch engineer) in the studio, I received the sad news of Rafa Angulo’s death, a dear friend since the Madee days. Rafa was one of the few people who wholeheartedly embraced my cursed records: “Free Association” and “Darkness, at Last.” I remember that time Rafa, Tule, and I were in a van in the backstage area of Contempopránea, listening at full volume to the final mix of “Free Association” a few days before sending that record to the factory.
